Intermediate egret

Characteristics

The intermediate egret is all white with bright yellow eyes and black toes. In the summer, the bird has a black bill and grows long ornamental feathers on its foreneck and back. In the winter, its bill is yellow with a black tip, and its body does not have ornamental feathers.
Habits: Unlike the little egret, the intermediate egret prefers a sit-and-wait foraging strategy. As a result, they are often seen quietly standing in marshes, waiting for prey.

Birdwatching period: September-May

Distribution

The intermediate egret often appears around estuaries, marshes, sandbars, and other aquatic environments and is often around with other herons.
